Hey Lightnin, keep going. Maybe go even faster but it seems to be working. This " no rain dance " of yours is a gem. You should patent it. Can't believe it works on the other side of the world. What a rippa. You might want to drink a little more while your engaged in this very strenuous activity. Alcohol is recommended. Thanks for the hard work. Garry.

Lightnin, your no rain dance worked brilliantly, and we had a fantastic day. Not to hot or cold, just right. The race track was dry slick and quite dusty which is very unusual for Nowra. Only 8 cars tonight, some of the newbies struggling a little at first, and Cruise won the night with a dominant drive in the feature race, which saw him win by almost half a lap. We all had problems of one sort or another which put us out of at least one heat. Unfortunately, the biggest problem was reserved for myself. After struggling with a car that wouldn't go properly, we had a major engine failure in the 3rd heat which has put that old peoples home one step closer. Wait till my engine builder here's from me on Monday. To say I am pissed is an understatement. That engine was fresh from a rebuild, and was run in on a dyno. I've only started it a couple of times to check for leaks, and the engine was run exactly as my engine builder wanted. I'm sure Darren will give you the full run down on the meeting a little later. Talk to you later, Garry.

G'day Garry and the rest of everybody out there! Glad to hear that my little jig worked at keeping the track dry...now I'm afraid I'm gonna need chicken bones and the eye of newt to keep the gremlins out of your engine( The eye of newt may be very difficult to get since he's a republican candidate for presidency and all)(Newt Gingrich) So I guess I'm gonna have to leave it all up to the mighty power of a good ol' ass chewin' to your engine builder(you'll have to deliver that one yourself) LOL! Mates, I have this mental image of Garry flying round Nowra white knuckling the steering wheel, foot flat to the floor, the engine screaming at 25,000 RPM with smoke bellowing out the pipe and having a permanent grin on his face from being back in action! Is that really how the motor failed?? Lets try to keep Garry honest! Cruz, what's the deal.. you destroy your car and come back twice as fast!!LOL! winners only get the all race groupies at first.. but after awhile they just get booed keep that winning crap up and they're gonna make you run in reverse!LOL! Congrats on the strong start to the season! I haven't seen all the results yet so I'll wait and say thanks to the 8 drivers and their people for making the journey to round 2! Darren, A thorn between two roses....LOL! Later alligator..after a while crocodile! Lightnin' Rod

Lightnin, I wish I was that fast. Jeeze what a freekin disaster. Turns out the motor had a massive air leak somewhere, which leaned the motor out to the point that it had so much pre ignition at the end of the straight, that it felt like the throttle was jammed wide open, which in effect it was. Hard on the brakes to try and wash some speed off,and by then the revs had died down on the motor, so that you were both off line and way under the torque of the motor. Slow. Dead slow. And then the bottom end has the temerity to decide its had enough and explodes. Destroyed bottom end including bent rod and broken piston. Lots of dollars to repair. Don't worry about a no rain dance this week. A "win the lottery" dance this week seems appropriate. It might even work on both sides of the world at once, and you can come visit and I can get a new engine. Shouldn't be too difficult for a talented bloke like you. Hopefully I'll be back for Cullen at the end of January. Talk to you later,
Garry.

Garry, Thank you and I also wish you and yours all the best that life has to offer this year and all of the following years! Buy that lottery ticket...I'll buy one too! I'm feeling lucky!!! I'm serious.. some body's gonna have a little Christmas miracle between the two of us!
NSWQMA, Merry Christmas!!! And as a local character from Tipton named Arnold Kratz Who was never sober enough to complete many sentences said.."MAY THE LORD TAKE A LIKING TO YA!" (I once saw his own dog piss on his head while he was passed out drunk in his back yard)
I have thoroughly enjoyed your club and watching the races and getting to know the drivers especially Darren, Garry and Archie.. thanks for keeping in touch! and I would like to get to know some of the other members as well...
The holiday break is the starting point of the first LRP QUARTER MIDGET PROTOTYPE (LRP=Lightnin' Rod Productions) My 11 year old son Tyler and I are excited to start the fab and make a ton of mistakes no doubt.. I already have 4 outside perimeters bent and 1 side's bars notched (Prior to buying my tube notching jig) I'm not real happy with the old cuts, may need to start over. Anyway, I'm having trouble figuring out how to post images here. I will have a ton of questions for ya. This may very well be the first US/AU Quarter Midget ever built....I'm nervous... Hope it turns out OK.
Random stuff for ya: The most annoying word in America voted for the 3rd straight year is(drum roll please)....WHATEVER!! I used to get coal in my stocking for Christmas.. but with the energy prices being so high ....I don't even get that now!
Best gift for a man this year....A mistletoe belt buckle
Merry Christmas everybody have a safe and fun holiday!! Lightnin' Rod

Okay Lightnin, here's a little gem from me to you as a Chrissy present. Now you have to promise not to abandon us down here when I hand over this priceless piece of information. If you go to speedway midgets.com you may find some kindred spirits almost in your own backyard. I discovered them last year and was amazed at how similar the clubs are. I emailed back and forward for a bit, but the vibes just weren't there. Your close enough to call em up on the phone and say G'day. The difference in the cars they run are not huge. They use the Aprilia 125 engine, which identical to the Rotax max but it has a gearbox. They also use 250 4 stroke engines. I'm sure these guys will be happy to talk to you, although the correspondence I had with them wasn't great. I havnt been holding out on you with this info, I just couldn't remember the web address, and I've deleted the email address that I used to correspond with. Once again Rod have a very happy holiday season.
Garry.

Lightnin, your strayn is terrible. You'll have to vist us so we can give you lessons. Did you look at that web site? Even their home page seemed really negative to me. Am I being too critical? Darren is sending me your email address, and when I get it I'll try to send you some photos of my car so you can get some ideas for your own project. It seems weird trying to do this from the other side of the world but you certainly seem keen to get somethin running over there. I had a look at Tipton on Google Earth and found your local racetrack. How big is it, and what surface does it have? I'm not very competent when it comes to this computer stuff so I'll probably get Dan to help me send you some detail photos. I'll try and put a tape measure in the photos so you can get some idea of scale.
Talk to you later,
Garry

Garry, the formerly known "Tipton International Speedway" LOL is called Cedar County Raceway now. I think they wanted the whole CCR initials thing to be catchy. It is a 440 meter/quarter mile elevated bowl made of clay and holds meetings every Friday night end of April to august.. did you see the highway to the north of turn 1 and 2? the young driver i thought was an Aussie that threw dirt on to the highway in his sprint car was actually from Nebraska his name is Jack "the gasman" Dover there is a you tube vid of him flipping is car over backwards with so much forward bite!! the kid won the feature a Tipton and rode the upper edge all night!
I did check out the other clubs web site.. I had found them earlier and had the same feeling then as you do..I found you guys to be a better fit and stand by my gut. the WAqma has a lot of cool cars to look at but they didn't have the same vibe as you guys!!!!
Archie Good luck in your move! i hate to see ya go. I know the club is really gonna miss ya too! When are gonna go?
Later Mates! Lightnin Rod

Mates! I found the video I was talkin' about...Wasn't Jack Dover though...go to you tube and search "sprint car with power". Probably reminiscent of Garry Biner back in 1971 when he raced in Los Angeles LOL ! There's probably mud stains still on the walls from "Garry The Dirt Slingga" ! Garry I couldn't get 88 as one of the numbers on my lottery ticket (they didn't go that high) but I did manage to get as high as 54...probably explained why I lost LOL! Every place has a person that everyone likes to give crap to..in NSW it's Cruz..... in America it's Cruz too! LOL! Seriously I'm a big of yours and I hope to see the ol' #54 kickin' tail on video some time soon! I bought another lottery ticket wish me luck! How bout you Garry..did you manage to buy one yet? Darren Where do I go to watch your Eureka car video? I do remember them being called Sterlings here in the states......I put them on a list a long time ago of things that I'll never have... maybe some year I'll get a ride in one!! What a machine! Kinda reminds me of the Rush song Red Barchetta...I don't know what a Barchetta looks like but in my head it has always looked like what you own. Have you out ran any "gleaming alloy air cars" lately? When I painted the sign I was listening to Appetite For Destruction .. I like G-N-R too. I got to see Axel Roses new guns and roses right before Chinese Democracy album came out he only did about 6 shows.. and i got to see him in Moline Illinois...Wow what a concert! I'd love to see some new pics of the cars and drivers ! Cheers! Rod

Lightnin, it seems we have the same luck when it comes to lotteries. Nothin! Not a brass razoo. Zilch ,zero and again, nothin. As for the mud stains on the fence in L.A. I can assure you it wasn't mud. Just thinking about my first ever outing on dirt makes me break out in a cold sweat. And yet, 40 years down the track, I'm still on the dirt turnin left. My wife reckons its about time I grew up.

G'Day NSW! Garry I tried the lottery again and I'm beginning to think this is some sort of a racket....I paid twice for tickets and lost twice...Hummmm I'm thinking this becoming a multi millionaire may be harder than I originally thought...maybe the lottery isn't the right way, maybe I should give my pay check to some organization to piss away to nothing for me....wait that's called social security.....I need an investment self help book ..something like... oh maybe "How to make chicken salad out of chicken poop" by I.B.scammingyou. Garry we are either gonna have to start winning some major races or go back to being male prostitutes again to make our millions! "Garry the Jack Hammer" will once again hit the hungry street corners of the greater NSW region. To the ladies delight of course! I will have to go back to my old job of sucking the stale farts out of theater seat cushions with a straw..not a very tasteful line of work...kinda sh*&&y when I think about it, the kinda work that leaves a bad taste in your mouth! I saw a T-shirt a few years back that summed up our lottery luck.. it said"I wish God would've made me rich instead of well hung!" On behalf of Garry "The Jack Hammer" and myself Rod "The Bean Pole" this is Quarter Midget Financial News saying if your ladies are missing check the street corners..Drive safe and G'day all!! Cheers! Rod

Morning Ros. Just dragged myself out of bed after a hell of a week at work. It's getting harder as I get older, but I gotta keep on working. I bought a bucket load of scratch lottery tickets, and a small fortune (to me ) in Lotto tickets. Lotto had a thirty six millian dollar draw last weekend. What did Iget from this mega investment. Thirteen Dollars from a scratchy. Thirteen lousy dollars. Won't even pay for me to get into Nowra tonight to watch the Australian Speedcar (midget) Grand Prix. I'm thinking of becoming a Nigerian Internet money scammer, or at least a politician. our pollies are paid outrageous amounts of money. I know, they say if you pay peanuts you get monkeys but you know what. We gottem anyway. And those bastards down in Canberra have just given themselves a massive pay rise. Makes you want to puke. Meanwhile, my wonderful benevolent employer has cut all our o/t, and now gives us days off instead. Just what I need. More time to spend money I havnt got. Enough grumbling. Tonight should be a fantastic show at a brilliant little racetrack. Great weather predicted and I'm going down there with Dan and Mitch and an old mate of mine. Should be fun. Mitch picked up my motor yesterday so I'll be back on track next meeting at Cullen. Havnt got the bill yet but it's been repaired at cost. Engine builder denied all responsibility. What a surprise. I'll talk to you by email as soon as Darren sends me your email address.
Have a great weekend, Garry

hello Rod Sorry for long delay on posting I have been flat out at work and building a new enclosed traler for the race cars,it is about 90% done and should be ready for the 28th at Cullen. I will find the link to the Eureka vids and send them to you via FB.I seen G"N"R in Dec 2010 when they done a show at the V8 Supercars in sydney and they were awsome,It was the 1st time I have seen them live even though it's not the old G"N"R it was still a very good show. We should be doing some more profile updates if I can get Brendon to pull his finger out and do it. Cheers.....Darren
